Two men have been arrested – one of them after a gun battle with police – for the “cartel-style execution” in California last month of a family, including a teen mother and her baby.
“Two Suspects Arrested in Connection to Goshen Family Massacre: Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Announces Break in Cartel-Style Murder Case”
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department has announced the arrest of two suspects in connection to the Goshen family massacre that took place on January 16, 2023. The incident resulted in the tragic loss of six lives and left a community in shock. Angel Uriarte, 35, and Noah David Beard, 25, are facing six counts of murder and other crimes in connection to the massacre.
Uriarte was arrested after a shootout with police, in which he was injured and is currently undergoing surgery. On the other hand, Beard was taken into custody peacefully. The motive behind the murders remains unclear, but the Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that both suspects and the victims’ families have a long history of gang violence. Four generations of one family, ranging in age from 10 months to 72 years old, were killed in the brutal attack in the rural town of Goshen, located in the San Joaquin Valley.
The arrest of the suspects came after a round-the-clock manhunt conducted by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department, known as “Operation Nightmare.” The operation involved intensive surveillance of the suspects, multiple search warrants, and even included searches of inmates’ cells in state prisons. The Sheriff’s Department also offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the suspects’ capture.
The tragedy claimed the lives of several innocent victims, including a 16-year-old mother, Elyssa Parraz, who had just regained custody of her 10-month-old baby, Nycholas Parraz. The baby and mother were attempting to escape the scene when they were killed, along with the baby’s grandmother and great-grandmother. According to Sheriff Mike Boudreaux, the child and mother appeared to have been fleeing when they were killed, and forensic evidence showed that the killer stood over the victims and fired at their heads from above. A few survivors remained at the “horrific” scene when officers arrived.
The arrests of Uriarte and Beard bring some closure to the families of the victims and the community at large. However, the loss of six innocent lives will not be forgotten, and the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department promises to continue investigating the case and seeking justice for the victims and their families.
In a statement, Sheriff Boudreaux said, “I’m happy we were able to put these two men behind bars. The Goshen family massacre was a horrific tragedy, and our thoughts remain with the families of the victims. However, the arrests of Uriarte and Beard are a step in the right direction towards finding justice for the victims and their families. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that all those responsible for this tragedy are held accountable.”
